I became a therapist because I know first hand how difficult dealing with anxiety can be. Learning the skills to overcome the severe anxiousness has been a life changer, and even when I forget them at times, I quickly remind myself to use what I have learned to make myself feel better. Throughout my experience, I have enjoyed hearing the benefits that being in therapy has given my clients, while also expanding my understanding of what works for some people and what doesn’t. I believe therapy can help, but it involves teamwork between the client and the counselor. There is no magic session, unfortunately - but I would love that!
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselors in the state of Florida. I specialize in Postpartum Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Sexual Trauma. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) through an EMDRIA approved program and have experience with clients who have experienced sexual assault, childhood abuse, the after affects of a loved one dying by suicide, witnessing death, car accidents, among other traumatic incidences. I am also trained in maternal mental health through Postpartum Support International (PSI) and 2020 MOM and Exposure and Response Prevention through Cognitive Behavior Institute Center of Education. I utilize this training to help mothers who experience postpartum obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). I have always had a passion for helping women and I feel the most important way I can be there for them is to help them through the challenges of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, as well as helping them through their survival after their sexual trauma.
There are certain factors that I think contribute to certain symptoms and am a believer that body movement, nutrition, and self care can be foundational in seeing improvements. In my free time, I enjoy going for nature walks, spending time with my husband and family, taking drives with my dog (pictured below), making funny videos of my chunky pig (also pictured below), adventuring, and relaxing. I believe that laughter can be healing, which I often include in my sessions when appropriate. I will never force anyone to talk about things they don’t want to talk about or push them to do things they don’t want to do. I am a support person, a soft challenger when necessary, and a listener. The relationship between client and counselor should feel safe and I strive to provide that for my clients. I would be so honored to be a part of your healing journey so please do not hesitate to reach out when you are ready.
